Easy Honey started at a fraternity party in Sewanee, Tennessee, when Selby Austin asked Darby McGlone if he actually knew how to play guitar — the two started writing together in the basements of academic buildings after hours, eventually recording an eponymous debut in Nashville over three days.
They picked Charleston over Nashville or Portland as an actual home base mostly because Austin had spent a college summer working construction there, and the Lowcountry surf-rock scene ended up reshaping their original singer-songwriter folk sound. Peach Fuzz, their 2021 album, did well enough to put them on the road for 120 dates, with drummer Charlie Holt and Austin's brother Webster on bass rounding out the lineup.
