Olivia Dean's first real public moment happened almost by accident — days after Aretha Franklin died in 2018, she posted a cover of '(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman' and it traveled far enough that people started asking who she was. She was fresh out of the BRIT School at the time, the same south London institution that produced Adele and Amy Winehouse, and within the year she'd put out her first single, 'Reason to Stay,' and joined Rudimental on 'Adrenaline.' Virgin EMI signed her not long after.
