The night Third Eye Blind first played Red Rocks almost didn't happen. A storm was rolling in, the band was fighting migraines and altitude sickness, and a member of the lighting crew walked off. They played anyway, on the eve of their debut album's 25th anniversary, and the film of it, Live at Red Rocks, ended up on PBS in October 2024. The set mixed "Jumper," "Graduate" and "Semi-Charmed Life" with deeper ones like "Crystal Baller" and "Faster." Stephan Jenkins, announcing a summer run that same year, said what he wanted was the lights, the noise, the heat, and everybody up close.
That self-titled record came out on Elektra in 1997 and is certified six times platinum. The San Francisco band had landed an opening slot for Oasis in April 1996, which set off a bidding war among labels. Blue followed in 1999 and went platinum, with "Never Let You Go" as its big single. Jenkins and drummer Brad Hargreaves are the two left from that era.
Summer Gods is the name they give their summer tours, and the fourth edition, in 2024, ran 37 shows from Spokane to Houston with Yellowcard and A R I Z O N A. In 2025 they put out Slumber Gods, lullaby versions of their own songs, and headlined Musikfest in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, then came back to headline its Steel Stage again on August 2, 2026.
