Rain City Drive didn't do a proper tour until 2022, when they supported Memphis May Fire. McAndrew points out himself how late that is, next to bands that have been on the road for a decade or more. They've made up ground since: the Summer School Tour in 2025, which started the day after their single "Ride or Die" came out, and a UK and European co-headline run with Honey Revenge in January 2026.
The band grew out of Slaves, the group Jonny Craig used to front. McAndrew first came in as a stand-in. The instrumentalists drafted him when they were stuck in Manchester after their singer flew home, and later they restarted the project under a new name. To Better Days came out in 2020, a self-titled album in 2022, and Things Are Different Now in September 2024 on Thriller Records, the same year as "Medicate Me" with Dayseeker. McAndrew told Kerrang! he wants to write rock music "as if it's still the biggest genre in the world."
