Sponge still tour in a van, and Vinnie Dombroski says everyone in it gets along. Recuerda Tu Muerte, out October 2, 2026, is billed as the last Sponge album; Dombroski produced it with guitarist Andy Patalan in studios around Detroit, and told The Oakland Press he no longer knows how to make a Sponge record without founding guitarists Mike Cross and Joey Mazzola, though the band will keep touring and might put out a single here and there. The catalog they're carrying on the road reaches back to 1994's Rotting Piñata and its singles "Plowed" and "Molly (16 Candles Down the Drain)."
