The New Flesh, released February 20, 2026 on Nuclear Blast, is Sylosis's seventh album and the leanest thing they've made: 11 songs, around 48 minutes, from a band whose 2011 album Edge of the Earth once ran 72. Blabbermouth gave it a 9 out of 10 and still heard the band's Bay Area thrash roots in the title track, while singling out drummer Ali Richardson's work on it. The tighter writing started with 2023's A Sign of Things to Come and the 2024 EP The Path.
Behind the shift is Josh Middleton's full attention. Sylosis went on hiatus in 2016 when Middleton, a close friend of Architects, filled in for them on guitar after the death of Tom Searle; he joined Architects full-time in 2017. Architects announced his departure in May 2023, saying it had become clear the two sides needed to go separate ways, and the Sylosis records since have been the result.
