Testament's next run of shows has them opening, which says more about the company than the band. On Meshuggah's Forty-Year Anomaly tour, from February 12, 2027, in Toronto through May, the Bay Area thrashers play before the headliner alongside Blood Incantation, and Sonic Temple is one of the stops on the route. They were on the festival's 2025 lineup as well, with Alice Cooper and Trivium. The songs come off Para Bellum, the 2025 album on Nuclear Blast, the first written with drummer Chris Dovas, who had already been on the road with them for a few years; Chuck Billy told Revolver that on that record "we really stretched out" on the songwriting.

Billy's own story gets the long treatment in his memoir, Holding My Breath: The Two Testaments of Chuck Billy, due November 10, 2026 from Permuted Press. In 2001, at 38, he was diagnosed with germ cell seminoma, a rare cancer that had spread to his lungs and heart. The book covers the fight, the Native American and Mexican-American heritage and spiritual healers he leaned on, and a benefit show headlined by a reunited Legacy, the band's name before it became Testament, which brought Alex Skolnick back into the fold for the first time since 1992. Billy says that if the show hadn't happened he wouldn't have jammed with Skolnick, or with original drummer Louie Clemente and bassist Greg Christian, again. It's been 25 years since he survived it.
