When Carín León played the Palomino stage at Stagecoach in 2024, he looked like any other act on the bill, cowboy hat and sleeveless button-up, until a full banda kicked in behind him, tubas and accordion and all, and he became the first música mexicana singer ever to perform at the festival. He ran through the cumbia-leaning "Alch Si," the cantina tearjerker "Corazon de Oro" and the zapateado "La Boda Del Huitlacoche," dropped in Johnny Cash's "Man in Black," and brought out Ana Bárbara for "Lo Busqué," a 2005 song he credits as one of the first to show música mexicana's connection to country. The Hermosillo, Sonora singer has been working that connection from both sides ever since, with "The One" alongside Kane Brown and songs with Leon Bridges and Camilo, while winning back-to-back Grammys for Best Música Mexicana Album, first for Boca Chueca, Vol. 1 and then for Palabra De To's (Seca). That same 2024 run included Coachella and an opening slot for the Rolling Stones in Arizona. For September 2026 he booked six nights at Sphere in Las Vegas, the first Latin artist to headline there, after demand pushed it from three announced dates to six. Sunday's set is his return to the polo fields.
