Daily Bread — Rhett Whatley — came to production from jazz guitar, not electronic music, and started making beats in his Atlanta bedroom in 2014 with an MPC and a massive record collection rather than any formal dance-music background.
Philos Records noticed his early tracks online, and On the Daily, the double LP he released with them in 2017, got him sharing stages with Pretty Lights, GRiZ, and STS9.
He split time in Denver after that, drawn to the city's electro-soul scene, and Invisible Cinema, his following album, sold out the Mission Ballroom and spun off Cinema in the Sky, a recurring live event built around the record — a jazz-trained bedroom producer turned into a Denver institution within about a decade.
