Marvel Years grew up in Vermont before relocating to New York, and the sound he builds fuses actual guitar playing with studio beat-making — blues and soul filtered through bass music rather than the other way around.
"Friends," his collaboration featuring Sodown, Daily Bread, and Dirtwire, puts him directly inside the same collaborative bass-scene web those three artists all move through, and Voyage Ahead, the conceptual two-part EP series he released across Pt. 1 and Pt. 2, is his fullest solo statement to date.
He's played Red Rocks alongside ZHU, STS9, and Pretty Lights — proof that a guitar-first approach to bass music can hold its own on the same stages as the genre's more purely electronic headliners.
