Paige Turner and Lee Newell spent a full decade writing songs for other artists and for ad placements before they let themselves start a project of their own — the two had met in 2014 and kept talking about it without ever finding the time, until the pandemic finally forced the pause that got Sunday (1994) started.
Rounded out by Jason Puma, the transatlantic trio released their first single, "Tired Boy," in February 2024, and songs like "Blonde" and "Stained Glass Window" lean so hard into cinematic, star-crossed melancholy that Arista/RCA picked up their self-titled debut EP for a deluxe reissue not long after — a decade of writing hits for other people finally redirected into their own catalog.
