"Ghost" climbed to No. 2 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Songs chart in October 2018, which was a long way up for a Los Angeles band whose only earlier entry, "Animal," had stopped at No. 28. The next single went further. "Heroin" hit No. 1 on that chart in May 2019, the first time Badflower led any Billboard airplay ranking, and the debut album OK, I'm Sick had already entered Billboard's Hard Rock Albums chart at No. 6 that March.

No Place Like Home, the third album, came in 2025 with "Paws" among its singles, and Josh Katz was blunt about how it got made. "It was harder for me than it's ever been," he told Loudwire. He described himself as sober, a bit older, more jaded, missing the "blind confidence" he used to write on. What he leaned on instead was the thing he says has always worked: "We've always been rewarded for honesty."

The tour behind it ran into trouble in early 2026. Struggling with his voice, Katz cut a Salt Lake City show short and told the crowd he was done with the tour, then said in a video days later that it wasn't canceled; the next stop was Seattle. "I don't know until that first note onstage," he said.
