Flying Blind came together differently from their earlier records. On past albums, riffs grew out of soundchecks on long tours. This time the songs came together in bursts between other jobs. Slash wrote while out with Guns N' Roses, recording his blues album Orgy of the Damned and launching the S.E.R.P.E.N.T. Festival. Myles Kennedy picked the songs up during a break from Alter Bridge and while working on his third solo album. The band recorded largely live with producer Michael "Elvis" Baskette, and Kennedy added his vocals months later. The title track came out October 2, 2026, and the album follows February 26, 2027 on Gibson Records.
There's pedal steel on it now, which Slash calls "a commitment," most clearly on "Looking for a Miracle." There's also talk box on "Good Time Girl" and a guitar instrumental, "Living the Dream." Twelve songs in all, closing with "Stem the Flow."
It's their fifth album, and the band counts fifteen years together. The partnership grew out of Slash's 2010 self-titled solo debut, which had Ozzy Osbourne, Fergie and Kennedy among its guests. Around Slash are Kennedy, bassist Todd Kerns, rhythm guitarist Frank Sidoris and drummer Brent Fitz. The 2027 North American leg runs from April 23 in Reno to May 22 in Tulsa, with stops at New York's Beacon Theatre and Nashville's Ryman along the way.
