Play "Austin" at a DASHA show and a good share of the crowd already knows the steps. She made up the line dance herself, timed to the chorus, had a handful of creators film it, then posted herself doing it alone in a corral. That clip passed 68.5 million TikTok views, and by May 2024 the song had soundtracked more than 750,000 videos. Indio has seen it in person already: she played Stagecoach in 2025, and the live "Austin" from that set is on her own YouTube channel.

The song came out of anger. She told Billboard it was written "out of a lot of rage," a story about bolting for L.A. and leaving a no-good lover a drunken mess in Texas, and that she hadn't actually been to Austin when she wrote it. It followed a pop-leaning debut, Dirty Blonde, in 2023, and landed on the eight-track What Happens Now? in February 2024. "Austin" became her first Billboard Hot 100 entry, Warner Records signed her, and the song has since joined Spotify's Billions Club.

The touring caught up with her. In late September 2026 she told Billboard that two and a half years of road life had left nodes on her vocal cords; she had them removed on October 22, followed by two weeks of total vocal rest. Her third album is due on Warner in early 2027, co-produced by her brother Bardo Novotny with Ben Johnson, and "Memo," "Mad About It" and "82 Chevy" are already out.
