When the Recording Academy handed out its first Grammy for Best Traditional Country Album in February 2026, it went to Zach Top for Ain't In It For My Health, over Charley Crockett, Margo Price, Lukas Nelson and Willie Nelson. The record, his second, came out in August 2025 on the independent Leo33. Carson Chamberlain produced it and co-wrote a lot of it, the same Chamberlain who played steel and led the band for Keith Whitley until 1989, and that lineage is the point. Top is about as openly neotraditional as anyone getting mainstream country airplay in the mid-2020s, and Saving Country Music argued his popularity helped push the Grammys into creating the category in the first place.

He started young. Raised in Sunnyside, Washington, he formed a band with his siblings at seven, then moved to Nashville in 2021. His 2024 debut, Cold Beer & Country Music, carried "I Never Lie," which caught on through TikTok and became his first No. 1 at country radio in May 2025. The rest of that year piled up quickly: ACM New Male Artist of the Year, a three-song EP with Billy Strings called Me & Billy, two September nights at Red Rocks that turned into a concert film, and CMA New Artist of the Year in November over a field that included Shaboozey. In 2024 he played Stagecoach's Palomino stage and remembers it as one of the first festivals where a real crowd turned up for his set. He headlines Saturday this time.
