Tedeschi Trucks Band are one of the non-country names on Stagecoach's 2027 bill, slotted on Saturday alongside Journey: a 12-piece led by the married guitarists Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks, who was named after Eric Clapton's alias in Derek and the Dominos. They also road-test material: several songs on the new record, the title track among them, were played live the year before it came out.
That record, Future Soul, arrived March 20, 2026, on Fantasy Records, their sixth studio album, produced by Mike Elizondo with Trucks and recorded partly at Swamp Raga, the couple's studio in Jacksonville, Florida. Trucks called it the most unique record they've done. The lead single, "I Got You," was written by guitarist and singer Mike Mattison, with Tedeschi on lead vocal and Trucks taking the closing solo. Before it came I Am the Moon, the 2022 project released as four albums, each with its own film, that retells the Persian poem Layla and Majnun, the same source Clapton drew on for Layla, from Layla's side. Mattison pitched the idea during lockdown.
Their 2026 included a ten-night March residency at New York's Beacon Theatre, two nights at Red Rocks with Lukas Nelson, and four nights at the Chicago Theatre in October. Revelator won them the Grammy for Best Blues Album in 2012. In 2019 at LOCKN' in Virginia, they played Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs start to finish with Trey Anastasio and Doyle Bramhall II.
