Ubbi Dubbi splits itself between house-and-techno and bass, and Lilly Palmer sits squarely on the techno side of that line, though the route there wasn't direct. She grew up in Schwabach, a small town outside Nuremberg, and spent her mid-teens with the death metal crowd at school before clubs like Der Hirsch in Nuremberg pulled her in. In 2015, living in Zurich, she bought turntables and taught herself to beat-match, and her first gigs were long deep house sets in bars there. Teaser, her debut EP, came out in 2017.
In 2020, with the pandemic clearing everyone's calendars, she started Spannung Records, named for a German word that means both voltage and tension; her husband, the producer Egbert, whom she first contacted after hearing his track "Elektriciteit," has turned up on it too. BBC Radio 1 aired her Essential Mix in 2022. Since then her releases have spread across Drumcode, Armada and Kontor as well as her own label, and the bookings have run straight through the American festival circuit, with 2026 dates at Ultra Miami, Beyond Wonderland and a closing set at EDC Las Vegas. DJ Mag put her on its cover in January 2026, Amsterdam-based by then, and the interview kept circling back to how techno gave her a nerve the shy teenager in Schwabach didn't have.
