Alex Kennedy started DJing and producing in 2012 while attending Temple University in Philadelphia, discovering dubstep through Excision, Rusko, Caspa, and Skrillex right at the end of high school — but it's screamo and heavy rock, not other dubstep producers, that he's cited as his real original influence.
He worked his way up the unglamorous way: house parties, then bars, then door slots on actual EDM shows, years before Brainrack became a name that could share a bill with 12th Planet, Subtronics, or G Jones.
Active since 2015 with releases on Subsidia, SubCarbon, and Grvdncr, he's played Lost Lands every year from 2021 through 2025 and Bass Canyon in 2024, and toured more than 35 shows in 2025 alone — a steady, grinding build rather than a single breakout moment.
