Wade Appleton, who performs as DiCE MaN, actually trained for the stage before he ever touched a DJ booth — a BFA in Theatre Performance from Florida Atlantic University sits underneath the bass-music career he's since built in Brooklyn.
He's put that theatre background to practical use founding Dubday NYC, an event series built specifically to support the city's underground bass scene rather than just his own shows.
Mikayli, the producer he's paired with here, works out of the greater New York area too, twisting hip-hop elements into bass music's usual sound design — a back-to-back set built from two different corners of the same city's scene rather than two acts from opposite ends of the genre.
