Die Spitz started after four Austin friends watched the Mötley Crüe biopic The Dirt and decided to form a band on the spot, trading instruments and vocal duties between songs rather than settling into fixed roles.

Two of them, Schrobilgen and Livingston, had known each other since age three; the other two joined the friendship at different points, most recently over social media.

Teeth, their 2023 EP, won Austin's own Album of the Year award, and a 2025 UK tour got Metal Hammer calling them the best new band in the world before Third Man Records signed them and Will Yip produced their debut album, Something to Consume. Their live shows are the actual selling point — dueling cartwheels, climbing the rafters, guitar solos played while crowdsurfing.
