Six years ago John Summit was doing tax returns during the day and DJing at night, which is the kind of detail that sounds made up until you check it — he really was an accountant at Ernst & Young in Chicago, degree from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in hand, before 'Deep End' blew up on Beatport in 2020 and stayed at No. 1 longer than any other track that year. He quit not long after.
What he built afterward is the reason a Lollapalooza main-stage slot makes sense for a guy who's been famous for barely half a decade: Experts Only, his own label and now its own touring festival brand, pulled 25,000 people a night when it ran its own event, and his sets there run past ninety minutes without losing the room. He treats a DJ set less like a fixed playlist and more like an experiment — unreleased tracks slotted next to the hits, remixed on the fly, so no two nights land the same way.
His discography backs it up: Comfort in Chaos in 2024, then Ctrl Escape this April, both on Darkroom by way of Experts Only, his own imprint since it launched.
