Alexander Ridha doesn't just make music as Boys Noize — Dog Blood, the side project he formed with Skrillex in 2012, gave him a rawer, more aggressive outlet than his solo catalog, starting with the single "Middle Finger."
Octave Minds, a different collaboration entirely with pianist and producer Chilly Gonzales, pulled him toward something closer to melodic, almost classical electronic music, including a 2014 record that folded in Chance the Rapper and the Social Experiment as guests — a genre range that his solo discography alone doesn't fully capture.
"Got It," his 2012 track with Snoop Dogg off Out of the Black, and "Midnight Hour," a later Grammy-nominated collaboration with Skrillex and Ty Dolla $ign, show the same instinct at work: Ridha treats collaboration as its own distinct practice, not just a feature verse bolted onto a Boys Noize track.
