Before any of the music, Tate McRae was a dancer — trained at the Alberta Ballet from age six, sponsored by Capezio, third place on So You Think You Can Dance: The Next Generation in 2016. That background is still the clearest thing about her live show: the choreography isn't decoration bolted onto the songs afterward, it's closer to the actual starting point, which is unusual for a pop artist whose catalog has gotten this big this fast.
'Greedy' turned her into a legitimate pop star in 2024, and So Close to What, the 2025 album that followed, debuted at No. 1 and produced hits like 'Sports Car' and 'Revolving Door.' The Miss Possessive Tour that came out of it was her first arena run — a fast jump for someone who was still doing reality-show dance competitions less than a decade earlier.
