Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers had already known each other for a decade, since Isle of Wight College, before Wet Leg existed — the actual spark came from watching Idles play the 2019 Isle of Wight Festival and deciding their own music needed to be less serious and more fun.
'Chaise Longue,' the single that broke through in 2021, delivered on that immediately: deadpan, minimal, and funny in a way post-punk revival bands rarely bothered to be. Their self-titled 2022 debut, produced by Dan Carey, went to No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart and won the Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album.
Moisturizer, the 2025 follow-up, keeps the wit but opens the songwriting up into something more confessional — less content to just be deadpan, still funny, but willing to sit in a feeling a beat longer than the debut ever did.
