Gucci Mane was born Radric Davis in Bessemer, Alabama, and grew up in East Atlanta, where he started rapping at 14. His 2005 debut, Trap House, set out the sound he'd keep for two decades: gangsta grit over dance-floor synths and slowed, almost psychedelic beats. Regular stretches in jail kept interrupting him and didn't slow the output. The State vs. Radric Davis (2009) and The Appeal: Georgia's Most Wanted (2010) both made the Billboard 200's top 10, and Everybody Looking, released in 2016 after a three-year sentence, went to No. 2 and started the most successful run of his career.
Lately he's been looking back on purpose. Episodes, out October 17, 2025, arrived with a memoir of the same name, and both dig into his mental illness and addiction, with OJ da Juiceman and Sexyy Red among the album's guests. Almost a year later to the day came Against All Odds, 17 tracks released October 16, 2026, through his own 1017 label and Atlantic. Apple Music's notes put him eighteen albums deep and frame it as a walk through his eras, from the mid-2000s run to the post-prison comeback to the elder-statesman years. The last song is called "1017."
