For years Koe Wetzel's signature song was named after a date, "February 28, 2016," the night he ran out of gas on a Taco Bell run in Stephenville, Texas, and a police officer found him face-down in a soccer field and arrested him for public intoxication. It only lost that spot in 2025, when "High Road," his duet with Jessie Murph, became the most-played single at country radio that year. He's from Pittsburg, in East Texas, where he grew up watching his mother lead honky-tonk bands from behind a piano, and he's been signed to Columbia Records for more than half a decade, long enough to go from playing for beer to headlining Red Rocks. The Night Champion came out June 12, 2026. Amy Allen co-wrote "When I'm Gone," Steph Jones worked on "Sinner" and the lead single "Hurts Like You," Nikki Lane brought him the idea for "Dollar and a Bottle," and Medium Build helped pull "The Man" together. In the year before it, he got engaged and became a father; the title, he says, is about having "survived the night side of me." He already knows this crowd's headliner. In June 2025 he was one of the rotating guests on Morgan Wallen's I'm the Problem Tour, splitting both NRG Stadium nights in Houston with Corey Kent.
