Active rock radio in 2005 was crowded with brooding, downtuned bands, and most of them didn't last. 10 Years, from Knoxville, Tennessee, did, and "Wasteland" from their major-label debut The Autumn Effect is the main reason. The song reached No. 1 on Billboard's Alternative Songs chart in early 2006, The Autumn Effect went gold in 2017, and in March 2026 the RIAA certified "Wasteland" platinum. Singer Jesse Hasek has carried the band through Division, Feeding the Wolves, Minus the Machine and 2020's Violent Allies. In 2024 they released the Inner Darkness EP, which Hasek described as half of an album still being finished.
