Crowbar's Saturday set lands between records. The New Orleans band has spent years playing Zero and Below on the road, most recently a spring 2026 U.S. run with fellow NOLA lifers Eyehategod that opened in Baton Rouge on March 19, following a summer 2025 tour together, and Kirk Windstein has said writing for the follow-up could start in early 2027.
So Columbus gets them at the tail end of one cycle, before the next one starts.
Windstein is the constant. He founded the band in New Orleans at the start of the 1990s, and it has stayed his main outlet through everything else he's done. He co-founded Down and played on most of that band's catalog, NOLA included, before leaving in 2013 to put Crowbar first. His one real side step since was Dream in Motion, a solo album released in January 2020.
The sound hasn't moved much, and that's the point: slow, downtuned, crushing riffs with Windstein's bellow on top. Zero and Below came out March 4, 2022, the band's twelfth album and their first since 2016's The Serpent Only Lies. Behind it is a catalog running back through Sever the Wicked Hand (2011), Odd Fellows Rest (1998) and the 1993 self-titled record.
