Rory Rodriguez is a qualified optometrist. For most of Dayseeker's life he needed a desk job, and he only quit it about four years before his early-2026 Kerrang! feature, once the band could pay his bills.

The turn came slowly. There was a general feeling in the camp, he has said, that if 2019's Sleeptalk didn't land, the band probably wouldn't last much longer. It did. Dark Sun came next, written about his father's death, and fans tell him it helped them get through their own grief.

Creature in the Black Night, out October 24, 2025 on Spinefarm, is the sixth album: 35 minutes of horror imagery, spoken-word passages, '80s synths and Rodriguez screaming across most of it. Producer Daniel Braunstein, whom Rodriguez calls the secret fifth member, helped on the heavier side, which Rodriguez admits the band find harder to make inventive than the melodic parts. Rodriguez says it has quadrupled Dark Sun's numbers. Guitarist Gino Sgambelluri left by mutual decision a couple of weeks after it came out.

What followed was bigger rooms. Rodriguez puts the Louder Than Life crowd they played to in September 2025 at 40,000; three years earlier, a 500-capacity show felt like a big deal. They went to UK arenas as main support for Motionless In White in February 2026, booked a North American headline run for May, and announced an expanded edition of the album with remixes by The Midnight and a My Chemical Romance cover for February 2027.
