Chris Lane learned to run a big stage as an opener, first on Florida Georgia Line's 2017 tour and Tim McGraw and Faith Hill's Soul2Soul run, and he's said the FGL stretch is where he grew as a performer. That fall he headlined for the first time, the Take Back Home Tour, with a young Morgan Wallen on some of the dates. His live set still turns on the falsetto that carried "Fix," his debut single on Big Loud and the first of his three No. 1s.
The other two are "I Don't Know About You," now triple platinum, and "Big, Big Plans," his wedding song, double platinum. Girl Problems, the 2016 debut album, made the Top 10 on Billboard's country albums chart, "Take Back Home Girl" with Tori Kelly went double platinum, and Laps Around the Sun followed in 2018.
Then came a long wait between full-lengths. Shade Tree finally arrived June 20, 2025 on Red Street Records, co-produced by label head Jay DeMarcus, a 12-song look back at growing up in Kernersville; he co-wrote eight of them, and "If I Die Before You" went to radio. In early 2026 he was back in the opener's slot, on Rascal Flatts' 21-city Life Is a Highway arena tour alongside Lauren Alaina.
