"Move On" started at a June 2025 co-write at Serg Sanchez's Nashville home, where Kevin Powers, Alex Cabrera and David Ray built a song around the question "Who taught you how to move on." A month later Powers carried it to producer Sean Cook's studio in California to finish with Whit Kane, a longtime friend and fellow North Carolinian, and Cook had invited Shaboozey to swing by and hear what they had.
Shaboozey freestyled the second verse, then made Powers the first signing to his new label, American Dogwood. The single came out in September 2025 through American Dogwood and Empire, was sent to country radio at the end of March 2026, and was on Billboard's Country Airplay chart by May. Billboard heard it as folk-country: quick, catchy and mostly acoustic.
He's kept singles coming since: "Can't Help Myself," "Leave the Lights On," "Who's Drinking Now," and, in October 2026, "When He Made You."
