Garrett Murphy caught a Porter Robinson set in high school in Nashville and started producing before he'd even graduated — a fairly direct line from one concert to an entire career, for someone who'd grown up playing piano and singing in choir rather than making electronic music.

He moved to LA for USC and fell into house music between classes, DJing parties and posting tracks on the side; "Food for the Soul," his 2023 solo debut single, pulled in more than four million streams in a month and landed on the Viral 50 US chart, fast enough momentum to get him onto stages like Coachella's Do LaB and Electric Forest before Weightless, his 2025 debut full-length, arrived.
