Lumasi grew up in Minnesota and got into producing his junior year of high school after falling down a YouTube rabbit hole of music festival videos — melodic dubstep came first, and he'd already opened for Illenium before the sound that actually made his name existed.
Bass-heavy remixes of Phil Collins' "In the Air Tonight" and the Beatles' "Strawberry Fields" built his early following, but it was a flip of Flo Rida and T-Pain's "Low" that actually went viral — pulled down soon after under pressure from major labels, which if anything only added to the buzz.
He's since built a real following out of Denver on TikTok clips of his girlfriend hearing his remixes for the first time, and Sun & Moon, his breakout-year EP, channels that same nostalgic-flip instinct into a fuller, more psychedelic bass sound.
