Finn Wolfhard was already a teenage rock frontman before Stranger Things made him famous — Calpurnia, his first band, formed before the show blew up and then got thrust into a spotlight neither he nor his bandmates had built the band for, which is part of why it broke up by late 2019.
He and Calpurnia's drummer started a new project, the Aubreys, the following year instead of giving up on music entirely, releasing an EP, an album, and a handful of singles across the next several years.
Happy Birthday, his first true solo album, arrived in 2025 just ahead of Stranger Things' final season — power-pop hooks and fuzzy bedroom ballads — and Fire from the Hip, the follow-up, leans further into classic rock with a notably cleaner production style, evidence he's still figuring out which version of this career he wants.
