Blake Whiten had been to Australia before his first album was even out. He played the Ridin' Hearts Festival in Sydney and Melbourne in 2025, and CMC Rocks Queensland has him booked for a second trip in March 2027, after his first run of U.S. headline shows. The album, Something to Say, landed in July 2026 with songs like "Number 7's Gone," "Ghost House," "This Bar Is My Friend" and "Boots by the Wrong Bed," and in October he put out a live take of "Bet On That" recorded at the Troubadour.
Asked by Countrytown what he grew up on, the Six Mile, South Carolina, singer named Alan Jackson and Keith Whitley first, then Lynyrd Skynyrd, AC/DC and Nickelback, and called himself an old-soul kid. The break almost didn't happen: a friend pushed him onto TikTok, and he nearly held back the clip of Morgan Wallen's "I'm the Problem" that took off the next day. Songs like "Hard to Break" and "Barely Gettin' By" sound like a run of bad years, but he says they only brush against his own and borrow the heavier parts from other people's stories. His plan for a set is plain enough. Make the crowd a little sad, then bring them back up before the end.
