Phil Kane's American Idol audition, for the show's 21st season in 2023, was an original: "Osage County," played on a white grand piano by an 18-year-old from Pawhuska, Oklahoma, who was studying songwriting at Belmont University. He told the judges it was the first song he'd ever written, at 16. Luke Bryan called him "the country Jackson Browne," and all three judges sent him through to Hollywood. He put "Osage County" out as a single in November 2024, then "Cowboy Killer," "Sober Sleepin'," "Late Night Lover" and, in August 2026, "Divine," his most-streamed song so far. His 2027 calendar has him opening eight dates of Vincent Mason's When You're Not Around Tour, another act on this lineup, including the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa, and Denver's Mission Ballroom.
