Evergreen, from 2019, is still the newest After The Burial album, and the wait started to end on March 17, 2026, when drummer Dan Carle and vocalist Anthony Notarmaso went into the studio with producer Zach Tuch to track drums for album number seven, Lambgoat reported. Not long after, the band canceled planned 2026 shows in Australia and Japan following changes to Northlane's touring schedule, and said they intend to come back with the new record in 2027.

Guitarists Trent Hafdahl and Justin Lowe, classmates at White Bear Lake High School in Minnesota, started the band in 2004. Records like Rareform and Evergreen are built on dense, low-tuned riffs and polyrhythmic drumming.
