Emmure's live history includes an actual electrocution. At a Moscow show on May 7, 2013, Frankie Palmeri seized up mid-song and dropped to the floor, and fan footage suggests someone who tried to help him took a jolt too. The band had already done one summer on the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival by then, and went back for a second run in 2014, when Palmeri called the fans the band's life force.

Victory Records, which put out six Emmure albums between Goodbye to the Gallows (2007) and Eternal Enemies (2014), describes the sound as barebones metallic hardcore with a death-metal flavor and the rhythmic bounce of nu-metal-era rock radio. Palmeri is the last founding member. The most recent album, Hindsight, came out on SharpTone in June 2020; in January 2025 Palmeri teased that the follow-up was coming, and in February 2026 longtime guitarist Josh Travis said on a livestream that he was no longer in the band.
