In a metal scene that has often treated a female-fronted band as a novelty category, Butcher Babies spent a decade with two of them: Heidi Shepherd and Carla Harvey, trading screams and cleans across Goliath (2013), Take It Like a Man (2015), Lilith (2017) and the 2023 double album Eye for an Eye... / ...'Til the World's Blind, which marked ten years since the debut.
Harvey announced her exit in July 2024, and the band went on with Shepherd as sole vocalist, alongside guitarist Henry Flury, bassist Ricky Bonazza and drummer Devin Nickles. "Sincerity," released that November, was the first song without her. What started as an EP grew into a full album, Nightbloom, released October 2, 2026 through Judge & Jury Records, the label co-founded by Howard Benson, who produced it.
