Violent Vira grew up in the Pacific Northwest, the daughter of first-generation Mexican immigrants, in a religious house where music got called "demonic," according to a 2026 Revolver profile. Her own site says she was singing door to door at eight.
Nothing about the way in was easy. She worked day jobs and busked with a ukulele to save up for a single afternoon at Nightowl Studios in Boise, Idaho. She auditioned for American Idol and America's Got Talent. What finally worked was TikTok: she studied what went viral and wrote the formula down, and "I Don't Care" went up there in 2021.
Lover of a Ghost, her debut album for Mom+Pop, came out November 14, 2025. She says some of the songs are about her life, but the album as a whole is "the personification of my grief." That November her Chasing Ghosts tour reached Philadelphia's Theater of Living Arts, where she opened with "Saccharine" and saved "Luka" and "God Complex" for the encore. "False Reaction" followed in May 2026, then a deluxe edition at the end of July, and a Lover of a Ghost film directed by Dylan Cole premiered on Veeps.
She has played Sick New World and Welcome to Rockville. Revolver reported in July 2026 that she'd support Babymetal and Halestorm across North America that fall. Her November 2026 European headline run includes two nights at The Dome in London.
