Carpenter Brut is Franck Hueso, a French producer whose music sits where 1980s horror-score synths meet metal's volume, darksynth being the name the scene settled on. After his early EPs were gathered on Trilogy in 2017, he spent close to a decade telling one story. Leather Teeth (2018), Leather Terror (2022) and Leather Temple (2026) follow Bret Halford, a picked-on American teenager whose story turns to revenge on the cheerleader who mocked him and then, by the last chapter, to resurrection as a half-machine weapon. Each album is built as the soundtrack to a film that doesn't exist.
Leather Temple, out in late February 2026, closes it out in 2077, with Halford coming back to overthrow a tyrant called Iron Tusk alongside a rebellion led by Lita Connor. Hueso has said Leather Teeth was meant to be the softer, more glamorous entry, with the real darkness saved for what came after. He's scored a real film too: the soundtrack to Blood Machines came out in 2020.
