British heavy music spent most of the early 2020s asking one question, usually some version of: where's the next Loathe record? I Let It In and It Took Everything came out in February 2020, put the Liverpool band in the middle of every conversation about where metal was headed, and then the follow-up took more than six years to arrive. Bassist Feisal El-Khazragi explained the gap to Kerrang! in 2025 without much drama. The band had been changing as people, their tastes kept moving, and it took a while for things to settle.
The way back started on somebody else's stage. Loathe supported Spiritbox across North America in spring 2025, and in May put out "Gifted Every Strength," the first proper look at the new era.
A Stranger to You finally landed on July 17, 2026 through SharpTone: fourteen tracks, with "Revenant" announcing it in April. That single pulls in Jami Morgan and Eric "Shade" Balderose of NOWHERE2RUN, and "Fangs" followed in June. They played a release-day show at home in Liverpool. Kerrang! had already put Kadeem France and Erik Bickerstaffe on its cover, and its review ranked the album among 2026's best releases.
The touring around it hasn't let up: Australia in May with Static Dress, then a 19-city North American headline run with Fleshwater and Prostitute, plus a spot on Outbreak Fest's Manchester bill. Bickerstaffe's line from that cover story fits where they are now. They've been doing Loathe, he said, for longer than they haven't.
