Alexander Morris grew up in Toronto trained on piano, guitar, drums and bass, and he names Queen and the Beatles as songwriting influences right next to Flume, Louis The Child and SG Lewis. On Iridescent, his 2022 EP, he wrote, mixed and mastered everything and made the artwork too.
Distant Matter only started in 2021. By summer 2023 he had slots at VELD in Toronto and Escapade in Ottawa, then a show at Brooklyn Mirage in New York.
In 2024 he joined ŁASZEWO on their headline tour, the two having put out "Break a Sweat" that August, played Splash House, and remixed Dasha's "Austin." In 2025 came four shows during Miami Music Week, a run with it's murph and a deal with UTA. "Familiar" arrived in January 2026.
