When Zen Selekta played two nights at Meow Wolf in Denver, she split herself in half. Night one was "Zen," the deeper and more spiritual material; night two was "Selekta," all high-energy tracks, mashups and fast transitions. She has said the two names stand for the duality in her music and performances. On support slots she builds a room slowly, and she describes playing as a flow where she's completely immersed in the music.
She is Nicole Barton, from Atlanta, and she takes the city on the road with her: "ATL HOE" is built on the chant Atlanta crowds use at shows. The rest of her influences run wide, from her Spanish heritage to meditation, nature, books and film, which is where the global textures in her dubstep come from.
She has played Electric Forest, Lost Lands, Wakaan and GRiZ's Seven Stars, toured with Mersiv and Inzo, and joined A Hundred Drums' Girls Wanna Have Fun tour after the two made "The Force." "All Massive," her Deadbeats debut, came out in October 2026, a tribute to the soundsystem culture that got her into dubstep.
