I Hate Models — Guillaume Labadie — wears a mask as a fixed part of his stage persona, which is a common enough techno affectation, but the sound underneath it is less standard: he's described his own music as rejecting genre clichés outright, merging aggression and melody in a way that doesn't sit neatly inside techno's usual harder-or-softer split.
He launched the project in 2015 with the track “Persephone,” followed a year later by the Warehouse Memories EP, and L'Âge Des Métamorphoses, his 2019 album on Perc Trax, established the sound fully. Forever Melancholia, his 2024 follow-up, leans further into introspection — critics have called it something closer to a diary than a typical techno record — and by 2025 he'd cracked the top 80 of DJ Mag's global rankings.
