Of the Trees is Tyler Coombs, a producer from Portland, Maine who'd already been making music for the better part of a decade before anyone outside the underground bass scene noticed — the turning point was a 2015 remix of Bassnectar's “One Thing,” done with Psymbionic, that Bassnectar himself put on his Into the Sun LP. Madison House, the management company that also handles Bassnectar, signed him in 2019.
His catalog since — Harvest in 2017, Tanglewood in 2020, Honeydust in 2022, Dream Atlas in 2023 — ranges from dubstep to glitch hop, built around spacious chords, heavy synth stabs, and 808 percussion stacked underneath drops that hit without losing the more cinematic, ambient stretches around them.
