Ben Clarke and Jesse Morath both had other names before X Club. — Clarke as Nora Drum, Morath as DJ Speed — and both had to leave Brisbane, Australia for London before the collaboration that's actually made their names internationally came together.
Their sound pulls from early 90s techno through jungle and future-leaning drum and bass rather than sticking to house's usual four-on-the-floor lane, and releases on Steel City Dance Discs and Lobster Theremin carried them onto Boiler Room and major festival stages by 2023 — enough momentum that they've since launched their own label, HIDE THE JUNK, to put out music alongside their own.
