Empty Shell Casing came out of the Texas DIY scene. Vocalist Jakaree, guitarist Zach and drummer Ben had been in Turf Burner, and DJ Christian played bass in Since My Beloved. "Thug metal" started as a T-shirt design before their first tour. Their influences aren't the obvious American ones. Ben told Dazed the heart of the sound is French nu-metal: Pleymo, Enhancer, Guts Syndicate.
The debut EP, And Slowly... As I Turn My Back, came out in October 2024. The two-song Empty followed in 2025, their first time in a proper studio, and the UNLIMITED EP in October 2026. They're now signed to Deep Love Recordings, an Atlantic imprint launched in 2025. The early touring was rough. Zach remembers a $75 show in a gutted, doorless space in Richmond, Virginia.
