Late-'90s nu-metal produced a lot of bands that sold more records than Snot. Few left a bigger hole. The Santa Barbara group formed in 1995 and released Get Some in 1997, and that was the only studio album they made with singer Lynn Strait, who was killed in a car accident in 1998 along with his dog, Dobbs. For years afterward the band surfaced only in small comebacks that guitarist Mikey Doling has said were never very serious.

This one is. Doling, fellow guitarist Sonny Mayo, bassist John "Tumor" Fahnestock and drummer Jamie Miller went looking for a singer, got nowhere through social media, and then a friend back in Santa Barbara told Doling she'd seen a band with exactly the right guy. That turned out to be Andy Knapp, also of Stronger Than Machines. The new lineup debuted in early 2025, with dates that included Welcome to Rockville and a hometown show at SOhO, and made it to Froth & Fury in Adelaide in January 2026. In August 2026 Revolver reported that the band, newly signed to BLKIIBLK Records, has a new album due in 2027.
