Matroda came up classically trained — violin, drums, keyboard, raised on Led Zeppelin and Frank Sinatra rather than dance music — before a 2015 remix of 'California' with Chris Lake charted on Beatport's Top 100 for weeks and pulled him toward house music after an earlier stretch making bass and dubstep. That pivot turned out to be the right call.
The RED Tape EP, in 2019, became one of the genre's biggest releases that year, and 'Disco Tool,' his collaboration with Bleu Clair, hit No. 1 on Beatport's tech house chart. He founded his own label, Terminal Underground, released Jack The House as its first EP, and by 2021 had cracked 25th on Tracklist1001's producer rankings with more than a million monthly Spotify listeners — a long way from a classically trained kid raised on the Beatles.
